Seven Days - The Band

KEV CREED - Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals Seven Days - Kev Creed on Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals

I was given my first guitar at the age of 5, and it was then that I became hooked, and wanted to know more and learn as much as I could about the instrument. I had lessons for about 3 years, from the age of approximately 10 to 13, and this gave me a sound understanding of what was achievable. Once I got into my first couple of bands from the age of 15, and stopped being a bedroom guitarist, my playing developed as I learnt how to play with other musicians, and how the band scenario actually worked.

I played in a string of bands in the mid 80s/90s, playing soft rock and pop. The first of these was "The Call", a 4 piece, drums, bass/lead vocalist, keyboard and guitar. The second band, "Unchain The Light" (naff name but the band were cool) was drums, bass, keyboard and guitar/vocalist. The third band, "The Bridge" was a 4 piece drums, bass, guitar and vocalist setup.

All the above worked in and around the North West of England, in pubs and clubs. This gave me an all round understanding of what was needed to be part of a successful working band.

Seven Days and is without doubt the best project I have ever been involved in.

My personal influences in my playing are:
Pete Townsend (The Who), Gary Moore (R'n'B Blues king/Thin Lizzy), Eric Clapton (Blind Faith, Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, and solo artist), Steve Rothery (Marillion), Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen, obviously!), Steve Lukather (Toto), among others.

I am also inspired by the defining vocal influence and quality song writing of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

All of these artists I love listening to and playing along with.
