Seven Days - The Band

PETE CLARK - Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals Seven Days - Pete Clark on Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals

I played a number of instruments when I was younger, until I discovered the bass guitar. I started playing bass more out of necessity, as the band I played guitar in at school needed a bassist. I had always had a fascination about the bass, so I bought one and taught myself how to play it.

My main influences at the time were bands like The Jam and Madness, then as I started to develop as a bassist, I started listening to artists and bands of varying musical styles like Level 42, Rush, Genesis, Chick Corea Elektric Band, and many more. I like to listen to as many styles of music as possible, as it's possible to learn a bit of something from everybody, and try to incorporate them into my style of bass playing.

My influences over the years have been Bruce Foxton (The Jam), Mark King (Level 42), James Jamerson (Motown session player), a number of jazz bassists such as John Patitucci, Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, and a whole host of others. I am influenced not just by bassists, but by musicians as a whole. Being part of the band's "rhythm section", it's strange how much influence a drummer can have. I can honestly say that Marek (Seven Days' drummer) is one of the finest musicians I've had the pleasure to work with.

I've played with bands regularly for over 20 years, and as well as playing with some great musicians, I have made a lot of close friends. I've done tours in Germany, TV and Radio work with Granada, Sky and the BBC.

I joined Seven Days in April 2006, and immediately felt at home. All the band are striving for success, and we're all driven and hard working. We're always looking to reach "the next level". The love of playing is clear, and our individual enthusiasm rubs off on one another. I'm really looking forward to the future, as I believe there's plenty more to come from Seven Days, and that can only be good for me as a bassist too.
